Where I've worked
Software Engineer · Mile TwoFeb 2025 – Present
Solving scientists’ daily workflow challenges.
Lead Software Engineer · ARCTOSMay 2023 – Jan 2025
Led software for Robotic Assisted Automated Laser Scanning systems — and pitched in as an electrical engineer when the role demanded it.
- Ported a C command-line app to Go, cutting data-conversion processing time from 35 minutes to 15 by adding multiprocessing.
- Designed and implemented a React + Material UI GUI for the command-line app, packaged as a single installable binary with Wails.
- Researched, evaluated, and procured power-distribution components for a large electrical cabinet, assembled subsystems, and conducted system bring-up.
GoReactWailsBackend Software Engineer · PexJun 2022 – Apr 2023
Improved the backend systems that serve Pex’s products; monitored and debugged microservices running in Kubernetes.
- Led an effort to enable integration testing in CI: extracted the production database schema and used Testcontainers so tests run in CI or locally instead of depending on local databases.
- Updated the customer billing service and implemented metered billing for a new product offering.
GoKubernetesTestcontainersSoftware Engineer · Mile TwoJan 2020 – May 2022
Data-team tooling for AI/ML engineers: a C++ Acrobat plug-in, then a Go command-line tool for data versioning, management, and cloud transfer.
- Built a prototype Acrobat plug-in in C++ that automated wet-signature search with OpenCV and added a flexible redaction label manager (one-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-one, many-to-many); a preprocessing layer cut false negatives by over 90% where lines were present, and a move to multi-threading improved UI responsiveness.
- On the Go data CLI: captured CPU/memory metrics with Python and visualized them with Dash + Plotly; added line-specific feedback for invalid YAML/JSON configuration entries; worked on generating test datasets for the internal data catalog.
- Led product sprint planning sessions by contributing issues and scoping features to implement within sprints.
C++GoPythonOpenCVAviation Systems & Electronic Hardware Engineer · GE AviationAug 2014 – Jan 2019
Avionics and electronic hardware engineering across three roles.
- Electronic Hardware Test Engineer: designed, built, and tested an EMI-tolerant interface box using optical isolators and fiber-optic cables for FAA qualification data; wrote and executed qualification test procedures; designed PCB test adapters in Altium Designer.
- Avionics Systems Engineer, Power Conversion: validated transient-suppression protection devices, computed absorbed energy with MATLAB across temperature and altitude, analyzed lightning-strike impact on sub-circuits, and managed the 777X Backup Electrical Power System converter requirements in DOORS.
- Avionics Systems Engineer, Aircraft Health Data: wrote and reviewed requirements for the aircraft health management unit and developed and executed its test procedures.
